Steins;Gate
For the current “What’s On” in the anime world, I got to say my pick is Steins;Gate. It’s a Science Fiction story, but it has MAJOR elements of Psychological Drama. Mainly, the main character, Kyoma, is a self proclaimed Mad Scientist. He talks to him self, is paranoid about a secret organization following him, and has invented a Microwave that can send text messages (and goo-bananas) back in time.
As they story progresses in the first 2 episodes (only 2 out at the time of writing this) we find more and more strange characters as Kyoma tries to figure out why his memory of events doesn’t line up with the rest of the worlds memories. Something to do with “World Lines” which from how they described it, sounds a lot like the parallel multiverse theory to me.
But seriously, if you have any interest in this sort of weird, complex, thought-based drama, this is looking like it’s going to be a good one.
Also, side note. The two companies who are making this made a very similar series before, and it’s almost like they go together sorta-kinda. They could exist in the same Canon Universe if you will. It’s called Chaos;Head. It’s one of my all time favorites, so check it out, and make sure to try Steins;Gate.
